Statistics NZ - Indicators Aotearoa

Statistics NZ required an engaging animated series to announce the public consultation and support the release of Indicators Aotearoa New Zealand – Ngā Tūtohu Aotearoa, a set of wellbeing indicators for measuring New Zealand’s progress.

The audience was all New Zealanders, agencies and media to reach and engage with groups that are often overlooked in government-led consultations, or have little interest in government policy.

The animations in English & Te Reo Māori needed to be accessible, easy to understand and provide a sense of connection to a wide range of Kiwis. A diverse character set was created and a storytelling world to reflect the New Zealand environment.

The animations were published on the Stats NZ public website, social media pages and sent to individuals, iwi, community organisations/groups, and agencies engaged within the lead-up to the release. Mohawk Media also produced follow up animations to update the public on the outcomes of the consultation.
