The ‘Did You Know’ series of animated infographic videos and posters was created to help support conversations with young people about substance use. The materials are being used when training community, social and health workers to share facts about Alcohol, Cannabis, Volatile Substances, Methamphetamine and Synthetic Psychoactive Substances, and have been translated into te Reo Māori, Chinese, Tongan and Samoan.
“I worked with Mohawk Media on the ‘Did you Know’ series of short animated videos. I loved how they worked together with us to simplify and target our messages, and made the design process so easy to understand.
Their flexibility, networks, and creativity were crucial to ensure the project was a success – not just in completion of the first project, but helping us to further grow and develop the products.
Excellent to work with, and I definitely recommend them.” Ben Birks-Ang

Youth providers working for organisations within the AOD Provider Collaborative pulled together all the key facts that they have found resonate with young people. The group partnered with the New Zealand Drug Foundation to share their expert knowledge and commissioned Mohawk Media to develop the videos, utilising their expertise in script writing for a targeted audience and using animation to convey important messages.
The series was commissioned and directed by the AOD Provider Collaborative, supported by Odyssey Auckland and the New Zealand Drug Foundation. The series was developed by Mohawk Media using characters created by Mōca.
