Alternative Search Engines to Google
It is very easy to forget with the omnipresence of the Google search engine that there are other ways to find digital media and information online. Makeuseof.com has a list of 13 Alternative Search Engines That Find What Google Can’t which is well worth delving into.
Some of the more cutting edge search tools have come from music engines. Search tools such as Tunefind may help create new music sales, by helping viewers match tracks they hear and like from television shows or films. I'm also finding some interesting new visual search tools such as Search-cube.com.
I love quotes as they save you having to think, so enjoyed spending some time searching Quotiki. A search for 'happy' gave me this gem: "As a well-spent day brings happy sleep, so a life well spent brings happy death."
Wikipedia also has a comprehensive list of the wide range of specialised and meta search engine tools now available. It just goes to show the wide number of ways that you can navigate online without following the Google herd.
